Sokoban lessons - Beautiful arrangements: Sokoban Perfect

I publish here a small selection of the most beautiful arrangements of "Sokoban Perfect" (1989).

I exclude the arrangements from the "Original" collection, which I will publish in another post.

You can download all puzzles here:

Author: unknown (Thinking Rabbit) + Jordi Domènech + David Holland
Title: Sokoban Perfect #29 a13
First release: Sokoban 2 (1984) #36; then in Sokoban Perfect (1989).
Comment:
JD: major changes: arranged the whole structure of the map
DH: added 7 boxes
Date: 1984. Remodel: 2010.7.6 (JD), 2010.7.14 (DH)
URL: groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/sokoban/conversations/topics/3715
Difficulty: 7
Best moves/pushes: 2745/691 (Findus)

You will have to sweat to undo the knot of the central area and place the first box...

Author: Yasuhiro Morita + York Shen + stopheart
Title: Sokoban Perfect #33 (b)
Date: 1989. Remodel: c. 2003 (YS), c. November 2005 (stopheart)
Comment:
YS: added 3 boxes
stopheart: added 4 boxes and changed 2 walls for boxes, stoned 3 floors and added 2 walls
Difficulty: 7
Best moves/pushes: 705/219

Difficult! stopheart has extracted oil from a structure seemingly without possibilities.

See also MF8 29th Sokoban Competition, remodeled by stopheart, more difficult and with a structure very extended.

Author: unknown (Thinking Rabbit) + monry + hir
Title: Sokoban Perfect #64
First release: Namida no Sokoban Special (1986) #40; then in Sokoban Perfect (1989).
Date: 1986. Remodel: 1998.10.24 (monry), 1998.10.27 (hir)
Comment:
monry: added 1 box, two subtle changes at the top and right
hir: added 1 box
Difficulty: 6
Best moves/pushes: 2091/506 (Ficko)

The original level is very beautiful, but without difficulty. The arrangements of monry + hir have given the level an unexpected difficulty.

Author: Yoshiki Kondo + Jordi Domènech + David Holland + minglw + stopheart
Title: Sokoban Perfect #66 d
First release: Namida no Sokoban Special (1986) #42; then in Sokoban Perfect (1989).

DH: added 1 box, rearranged some goals
minglw: moved 2 goals
stopheart: added 1 box, moved 1 goal
Date: 1986. Remodel: 2010.7.24 (JD, DH), 2010.7.25 (minglw, stopheart)

Excellent arrangement achieved between all four authors who participated.

Hard! The difficulty of this arrangement is that it forces to keep open the way in the entire circuit, to place the box in the top right.

This is one of my favorite arrangements. Difficult storage. This arrangement is almost identical to the previous arrangement of GRIGoRusha (version c, 2004.1.7; see Remodel Club #58): the only difference is that in this version of zhenying has moved a box to I4. Is likely that zhenying did not know the earlier arrangement of GRIGoRusha.

Another classic level of Sokoban Perfect. This arrangement of GRIGoRusha is very tight.

Title: Sokoban Perfect #302 a-6
First release: Sokoban 2 (1984) #50; then in Sokoban Perfect (1989).
Comment:
YS: added 1 box

Date: 1984. Remodel: 2007.1.27 (YS), 2007.2.3 (zhenying)
URL: blog.163.com/changkai_8428/blog/static/7745191820111194750560/
Difficulty: 7
Best moves/pushes: 3065/984

Original level divided into two parts, and in which we must move the boxes from one part to another. It can be speculated that the author of this excellent level of old look is the same as that of the previous level (SP #302), since they were published consecutively in Sokoban 2 (1984).

Author: Masaki Ishino + York Shen
Title: Sokoban Perfect #306 b-2
Comment: rearranged 9 goals
Date: 1989. Remodel: c. February 2007
Difficulty: 7.5
Best moves/pushes: 8168/1904 (Findus)

It is the last level of Sokoban Perfect and one of the most difficult and arduous to solve in this collection. This version of York Shen change of place 9 goals, which obliges to use the storage area for storing some boxes on an interim basis, and forced to move the boxes by two rows of the storage area (exits out a box at the bottom, comes inside another box above).

First steps

"First steps" is a selection of my puzzles and arrangements for beginners who want to start in Sokoban. I have divided "First steps" in three sets: Beginner, Advanced and Expert.

You can download all puzzles here:

First steps (210 puzzles)

First steps - Beginner (100 puzzles)
Since I started building Sokoban puzzles, I have always been enthusiastic about small simple-looking puzzles, but whose solution is not obvious. In this respect,
I have admired the effort by the simplicity of some Japanese masters: Monry, Nakamiya, Hir... Subsequently, in some collections for beginners of David W. Skinner, Aymeric du Peloux, François Marques, Evgeny Grigoriev and František Pokorný, we also find many little jewels. And more recently, the latest collections of Thomas Reinke are incredibly amazing.

Concerning me, along the years, in them series "Miniatures" and especially "Magic Sokoban" I have gathered several hundreds of small puzzles and arrangements. My aim has been to build simple puzzles and at the same time tricky. If I've managed to build half a dozen puzzles with these two features, I would consider myself very satisfied.

"First steps - Beginner" is a selection of small puzzles of "Magic Sokoban" and other collections for those who start to play Sokoban. Despite their simple appearance, they are not easy: you almost never find the solution on the first try, and you always have to think to solve them.

A tip to learn Sokoban: the most important thing is not to find the solution, but "to understand it". When you solve a puzzle, do not leave it: try to solve it another two more times.

Enjoy!

First steps - Advanced
(80 puzzles)
Is the continuation of the set above. The puzzles are a bit more difficult.

Bonus!

First Steps - Expert (30 puzzles)
Selection of difficult puzzles and remodels. Recommended for experienced players.

This remodel of Přemysl Zíka is *extremely hard*.
I have written to Přemysl, and compare "S" remodeled with Picokosmos #17:

Hi Přemek!

Incredible! I think that is the solution more complicated that I have seen never... The solution remember to Picokosmos #17 of Aymeric du Peloux. The number of moves/pushes in both levels is similar. However, I think that the solution of "S" is much more complicated than the Picokosmos #17 !!!

Jordi
_

Hello Jordi,

I guess you're right:

Picokosmos #17 of Aymeric du Peloux: There is only one problem: after a while you can find the key

"S" remodeled:
There are several problems that need to combine
1) box 1 - simple
2) box 2, 3 - very difficult: it must needed to be very patient and boxes in the right must be in the legal location (this took me - and third step - a very long - about 3 days, before I came to it)
3) box 4, 5 - before finally placed, they must make big maneuvers while retaining solvability (in the right)
4) only now is the position comparable to Aymeric du Peloux: Now It just need to find a system

Have a nice day

Přemek

Sokoban lessons - Mazes

A maze is a structure without rooms (with regard to the concept of "room", see the explanation in "Sokoban lessons. Three boxes - with rooms"). In some cases, I also include puzzles with rooms, but only if these are equivalent to less than 8 % of the size of the puzzle. This criterion excludes puzzles that probably can be considered also mazes, but I have not found another criterion better.

With some exceptions, I do not include small puzzles (3, 4 boxes...).

You can download all puzzles (except commercial) here:

Difficulty: 6.5
Best moves/pushes: 639/195

In the initial position, placed boxes and not placed boxes, draw a double "Big Dipper" (the seven stars more visible of the Ursa Major). The goals area is the Chinese number seven, 七 (by the 7 stars). The interior walls are the Chinese characters - though slightly deformed - 北斗 (above) and 星 (below), so that together with the character 七 (goals area) they form the word 北斗七星 ("Big Dipper").
